The elusive and mysterious Mossy Grotto Falls, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon

What's your favorite color?

May 20, 2015

I suppose it's time for me to actually start writing in the blog portion of my bloggable website. It's only been up and running for 4 months now. Believe it or not, I actually really do like writing. I just don't usually write much about photography. I like to keep my content short, sweet and snarky and not much to do with anything. If it's amusing to someone other than me, that's even better. So today seems like as good of day as any to check "WRITE A BLOG POST" off of my to do list (it really is in all caps and has been for months). So here it goes. Words that have nothing to do with anything.

If you could only see in one color for the rest of your life, which color would you choose and why? Nick asked me this question when we were in Hawaii a few months ago. I think my first response was tangerine orange. Because I LOOOOOVE some sweet vintagey tangerine orange color. In small doses. Thinking about this very serious question more I am quite sure that color would agitate me if it were the ONLY color I could see. I love it as a pop here and there but it has no place filling up all of my eyeballs forever. My real answer is a toss up between two colors and would probably depend on my mood for which one I would swing toward. In thinking about color and how it effects the happy part of my brain I've decided that the color I would choose to only see for the rest of my life would be lush Kelly green or brilliant turquoise blue. Both of these colors make me feel a strong happy emotional feeling that makes me feel calm and at ease. I wonder if that means something? I was hiking through the Columbia river gorge this spring and was surrounded by the green color of my dreams. I felt like Mother Nature was giving me a big hug while I was soaking in that spring green lushness. And I felt like I hiked most of the trail with a huge smile on my face. At least the parts of the trail where I wasn’t huffing and puffing to get up the vertical inclines. As I was hiking through some of the most beautiful parts of the country with a giant smile on my face and a heart full of happy, I thought about the question that Nick asked me and thought that this is for sure my answer. Here are some of the lovely waterfalls and paths that I walked through and fell in love with nature all over again.

I'll have to get myself to a tropical oasis very soon so I can experience the counterpart to the greens, brilliant turquoise blue. It's important to fully weigh all options before making a decision on these life altering questions, you know. Nick, pack your bags!
